"Do you remember when we used to come here and stare out of this window together for hours?"
The person does not physically acknowledge B'eight apart from these softly spoken words. B'eight walks up to the window and stands next to them.
"Yeah, We used to save up free time for months"
The silence between each person talking passes like eons. The silence is in no way uncomfortable, but the moment pangs of discomfort. The air tastes of forgotten friendships, lost memories, and regret.
"I don't see you in L block anymore B'eight."
"I have gotten more shifts since..."
"Well anyway, I don't get there very often myself, I wasn't sure if we were just missing each other or..."
"It wasn't really all that hard on you was it Nineo?" B'eight asked, revealing more insecurity than was intended.
"OH MY GOD!" The response is a scream.
B'eight stumbles back, surprised by the drastic tone change. "I see, well I had no idea it wa.."
"No!" Nineo cuts B'eight off "Look!" pointing and causing B'eight to follow the gaze of terrified eyes past the pointing, trembling finger, out the window and at what has caused this uncharacteristic panic.
B'eight's gaze just barely exits the window in time to see some object smash directly into the vessel. Striking at what seems like the lowest levels.
The resulting explosions causes shudders clear up to where they are standing. The lights blink off and a crash is heard so close to B'eight it is hard to believe what ever made had it missed. The destruction seems to have been centralized on the levels dedicated to the artificial gravity and gyroscopic equipment. The force of the strike caused the ship to turn almost on it's side and as a result "down" is now in the side corner where the floor meets the wall, almost 45 degrees off of normal. Emergency protocol takes over. Alarms begin ringing and flashing red lights come on, replacing the bright white ones that are flickering, making the dead end a bit difficult to see in.
B'eight gains some balance and surveys the area. Nineo is lying in the corner, legs under a piece of fallen ceiling.
