Pod 2

B'eight opens the door to escape pod 2, gives one forlorn look toward the corpse in the center of the room, then seals the door.  Looking around B'eight realizes how low maintenance the escape pods are.  Only one button on the console needs pushing.  B'eight takes a deep breath, sits back into the seat, then presses the red button labeled "LAUNCH".

The preliminary force of ejection shoves B'eight further back into the seat then was originally thought possible, but as speed normalizes the pressure releases somewhat.  B'eight sighs in relief.  "I am finally safe"

Suddenly the pod begins rattling and shaking.  B'eight is thrown from the seat and cast against the opposite side of the tiny vessel, with no controls B'eight is helpless as the pod spins randomly through space.

Without warning the door is ripped open,  all of the air in the small compartment rushes out and with it a helpless B'eight is flung, spinning, alone and terrified through the vacuum of nothingness.  The entirety of The Tomorrow is visible from here and as the last moments of consciences escape B'eights suffocating body the final thought to cross the dying brain is: "That's funny - the damage doesn't look as bad from out here."
